Issue

  • Key factors when operating a power plant

  • High load manpower

  • Unsure how to incorporate recent issues

AT A GLANCE

70+ years

Operating thermal power plants worldwide

WHY JERA

Manuals refined by real operation

JERA identifies the essential elements from actual trouble experience and PDCA over 70+ years — not theory. That is the JERA O&M Way.

  • JERA O&M Way

Systematic, unified framework of manuals by the actual experience

  • Site-specific

Standard operating procedures tailored to your plant

OVERVIEW

What is Work Practice Optimization Service

Manuals and procedures are the core technical foundation for safe, reliable, compliant O&M. JERA develops or reviews them from a proven, unified framework (JERA O&M Way), delivering practical manuals and site-specific procedures based on experience. The result is operational readiness your team can operate by — driving reliability improvement across daily O&M.

BENEFITS

What proper manual management delivers

  1. 01

    Fewer human errors, higher safety

Practical, experience-based manuals remove the ambiguity that causes errors, so your team runs safely from day one.

  2. 02

    Optimized O&M cost

Avoid excessive, insufficient, or inefficient operation and maintenance activity.

  3. 03

    Less person-dependency

Standardize methods and retain knowledge as staff change over.

  4. 04

    Reliability improvement

A working management-of-change/PDCA loop drives ongoing reliability improvement, Kaizen, governance, and compliance.

CASE STUDY

A full O&M manual set, ready before commercial operation

CHALLENGE

Construction was on track, but the operating company had no one who could build its O&M manuals. Manuals have to be tailored to the plant's own organization and equipment configuration, and that work demands people with real operating experience. With commercial operation approaching, there was no time to recruit for it — and no systematic reference to start from.

SOLUTION

JERA has a manual set: a systematic, unified body of manuals built from decades of running its own plants in Japan — what JERA calls the JERA O&M Way. JERA then customized each manual to the plant's organization and equipment.

RESULT

Eighteen O&M manuals, delivered before commercial operation. The incoming management and technical teams now have a single, consistent reference to train against — the foundation for stable start-up and continued reliability improvement.

  • 18 manuals

Each tailored to the plant's own organization and equipment

Q&A

Work Practice Optimization Service, answered

Q. What is Work Practice Optimization Service?
A.

It's a service in which JERA develops or reviews your O&M manuals and procedures — the technical foundation for safe, reliable, consistent, and compliant operation. Working from its proven, unified framework (JERA O&M Way), JERA produces practical, site-specific standard operating procedures that reduce person-dependency and optimize O&M cost.

Q. How are JERA's manuals structured?
A.

JERA maintains manuals covering business management, financial and revenue management, HR, asset management, information management, and plant operation / maintenance — plus a supporting base layer. Each manual is accompanied by standards and procedures as attached documents.

Q. What makes JERA's O&M manuals different?
A.

They embed not only decades of operating experience but also Kaizen-based efficiency thinking and know-how on economical equipment operation — so that even a newcomer can manage plant operation.

Q. Do the manuals handle overseas laws and regulations?
A.

JERA's manuals are built on Japanese laws and regulations, so they need tuning to the laws and regulations of the country of introduction, which the customer is asked to handle.
