The project is located in the Ras Laffan Industrial Area, 80km north of Doha and is a natural gas thermal power plant with an output of 1,025 MW and water desalination facilities of a daily output of 270,000 tons. Operation and maintenance began in 2008 to provide electricity and water to Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) for 25 years.
Chubu Electric Power Company (Chubu) has been involved in the project since 2004, and JERA succeeded to this project from Chubu in July 2016.
