Mesaieed Gas Thermal IPP Project QATAR

In 2008, Chubu Electric Power Company (“Chubu”) constructed a 2,000MW gas thermal power plant to maintain and operate in the Mesaieed Industrial Area of Qatar, located approximately 40km south of the capital Doha. In this project, the electricity generated is sold to Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) over a 25-year period. Of the 2,000MW, 1,000MW began operation in 2008 and the remaining 1,000MW began operation in 2010. As the long-term power purchase agreement is guaranteed by the Qatari government, the project is considered a solid investment and stable source of revenue over the long-term.
