JERA is holding approximately 35% of the outstanding shares of Gia Lai Electricity Joint Stock Company (GEC), a leading renewable energy power company in Vietnam.
In order to support the country's growing electricity demand and decarbonization, GEC aims to become a leader in the renewable energy sector in the country by expanding hydro, solar, and wind power projects.
As Vietnam is facing rising demand for electricity, depleting domestic resources, and the shared challenge of addressing decarbonization, JERA views Vietnam as a priority country where it has strong potential to engage in both LNG and renewable energy projects that will contribute to both decarbonization and to stable supply of energy that support’s the country’s growth.
