JERA Group Corporate Communication Book 2021Sustainability
JERA Co., Inc. has published "JERA Group Corporate Communication Book 2021" ("Communication Book 2021"), an integrated report focusing on the JERA Group’s activities in 2020.
The Communication Book 2021 introduces the Group’s strategies for value creation and ESG management, in addition to the specific initiatives officially announced in October 2020 to achieve the "JERA Zero CO2 Emissions 2050" objective.
Recognizing that our business activities are related to the global environment, we joined the TCFD Consortium in September this year in support of the purpose of the TCFD recommendations, which are to "analyze the risks and opportunities posed by climate change to business and promote disclosure of such information." The Communication Book 2021 introduces our efforts to promote continuous information disclosure in line with the TCFD recommendations in the special feature "Response to the TCFD Recommendations.”
We will continue to provide our stakeholders with easy-to-understand information about the Group’s business activities, which contribute to creating a sustainable society through the realization of our Mission & Vision. We will also strive to enhance our enterprise value over the medium to long term by utilizing the dialogue with our stakeholders in our business activities.
- TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures): The Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) was established by the Financial Stability Board in response to the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting to stabilize the financial system due to climate change. It compiles a framework for information disclosures on climate change-related risks and opportunities to companies and publishes its recommendations.
- TCFD Consortium: The TCFD Consortium was established as a forum for companies and financial institutions that endorse the TCFD recommendations to work together to promote effective corporate information disclosures and to discuss initiatives that will help financial institutions and others make appropriate investment decisions based on disclosed information. To further enhance corporate disclosures in line with the TCFD recommendations and to promote constructive dialogues between investors and companies, it has been actively issuing various guidance documents, and organizing the TCFD Summit as a forum for business companies and financial institutions around the world to meet.
