Anegasaki Thermal Power Station is Introducing a Solutions Package to Realize JERA’s Vision for the Digital Power Plant2023/04/20

JERA Co., Inc. (“JERA”) has developed a set of applications for realizing its vision for the digital power plant (“DPP”) and will gradually introduce it as a solutions package (“DPP Package”) at Anegasaki Thermal Power Station.

JERA’s DPP collects data about a power plant’s personnel and equipment in the cloud, makes real-time equipment and market data and other information visible, and enables real-time decision-making and the integrated operation of power plants linked by data. This allows power plant personnel to focus their energies on data utilization rather than data collection and analysis tasks, transforming the way power plants work.

To make the DPP a reality, JERA engineers thoroughly versed in thermal power plant operation and maintenance (O&M) spent roughly two years in an iterative cycle of developing various applications related to power generating equipment performance and abnormality management, maintenance enhancement, and other topics, then test deploying them at power plants and applying the feedback gained to improve the applications for redeployment. Going forward, work will continue with the development and deployment of digital twins and the latest AI technology.

The DPP package is the world’s first attempt at an O&M solution across the power plant lifecycle. Going forward, JERA will gradually introduce the package at its power plants in Japan and overseas and consider offering it to clients.

Through DPP, JERA will continue to pursue a stable supply of energy and to lead the electricity industry’s change to the next generation.
