Submission of the Primary Environmental Impact Consideration Document for the Oga City, Katagami City and Akita City Offshore Wind Power Generation Project2023/01/16

JERA Co., Inc. (“JERA”) plans to develop an offshore wind power generation project (the “Project”) off the town of Oga, Katagami and Akita city in Akita Prefecture, Japan, and today submitted its Primary Environmental Impact Consideration Document for the Oga City, Katagami City and Akita City Offshore Wind Power Generation Project1 (the “Document”) to the Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry.
JERA believes that the favorable wind conditions and shallow seabed off Oga, Katagami and Akita city make the area suitable for the development of bottom-fixed offshore wind power generation.

The Project will be located off the coast of Oga City, Katagami City and Akita City and include as many as 29 wind turbines with a maximum generation capacity of 340MW. JERA has participated in offshore wind projects in the U.K. and Taiwan to expand renewable energy. JERA will apply the experience and expertise gained in the construction and operation of such large-scale offshore wind projects to the current Project.

The Document summarizes the results of deliberations concerning environmental conservation issues to be considered at the project planning stage. On 17 January the Document will be posted to JERA’s website and be made available for public review at the administrative agencies listed in Attachment 2.
People with opinions about the Document from an environmental conservation standpoint are invited to submit them via post to the address listed in Attachment 2 or to drop them in boxes available at the public review locations.

JERA will continue to move the Project forward under the guidance of the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry and other related authorities, giving due consideration to the opinions of other stakeholders.
