Measures to Ensure Stable Electricity Supply During the Peak Summer Demand Period FY 20252025/06/25

JERA Co., Inc. (“JERA”) hereby announces set of measures to address electricity supply and demand during the peak-load summer season (July to September 2025), based on the outlook for the electricity supply-demand for the summer of FY 2025.

On May 23, The Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, presented the electricity supply-demand outlook for this summer, and the measures to address supply and demand for the summer of FY 2025 were compiled.

In order to ensure a stable electricity supply, JERA will implement measures to secure both kW, such as to secure power supply capacity, conduct targeted inspections of power generation facilities, etc., and kWh, such as securing fuel supplies.

1. Measures to Secure kW

• Securing Power Supply Capacity
To secure power supply capacity for the summer of FY 2025, JERA have planned to avoid maintenance and inspections outages of thermal power plants in the peak summer period, as much as possible.
In March 2025, JERA commenced commercial operation of Unit 3 of Goi Thermal Power Station (Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture), a state-of-the-art thermal power facility developed as part of our replacement projects. All 10 units (7.31 GW) that were planned for replacement have now commenced commercial operation and are secured as part of our available supply capacity.
In addition, as a provisional measure until the biomass co-firing is resumed at Taketoyo Thermal Power Station, we will conduct a coal-only operation during the high-demand winter and summer seasons starting this summer to ensure the stable supply of electricity.

• Targeted Inspections of Power Generation Facilities
In addition to strengthening internal systems, JERA is working to mitigate the risk of outages by prioritizing inspections and health assessments of key equipment, including boilers.

2. Measures to Secure kWh

• Securing Fuel
JERA has secured the majority of the necessary fuel for this summer; however, we will continue to monitor the market environment, as the possibility of major changes due to abnormal weather or geopolitics related to our supply countries, such as Russia and the Middle East, remains.
Amidst such circumstances, JERA will swiftly respond to changes in electricity supply-demand by optimizing flexible fuel procurement and resale through our subsidiary JERA Global Markets.

Through these measures to secure both kW and kWh, the JERA group is making every effort to secure a stable supply of energy.
