About the Fire at Taketoyo Thermal Power Station (Report No. 5)2024/02/01

At 15:11* on 31 January, smoke was observed near the boiler enclosure at Taketoyo Thermal Power Station (Taketoyo-cho, Chita-gun, Aichi Prefecture) and a fire broke out at the belt conveyor that transports fuel (coal and woody biomass).

In response, in addition to immediately notifying the public fire department, we also took action to suppress the fire. At the current time, there are no injuries due to this incident.
Taketoyo Thermal Power Station Unit 5 was in operation at the time of the fire but was shut down at 15:29 in response to the incident.

Subsequent on-site investigation confirmed:

•    The scope of the fire.
•    That although the fire had not been completely extinguished, its intensity had diminished and it was not expected to spread further.

At 20:04 on the same day, the fire department confirmed that the fire had been completely extinguished.

Today (1 February) at around 02:40, fire was observed to have reemerged in the vicinity of the belt conveyor, so we immediately contacted the public fire department and took action to suppress the fire.
At the current time, there are no injuries due to this fire.

At 03:34, the fire department confirmed that the fire observed around 02:40 had been completely extinguished.

We deeply regret the inconvenience and concern experienced by the local community and other stakeholders.
