Completion of the Replacement Work on Group 1 and 2 at the Futtsu Thermal Power Station2019/08/09

JERA Co., Inc. (“JERA”) has completed the replacement work on the 3rd unit of Group 2 at the Futtsu Thermal Power Station and resumed commercial operation today. This milestone marks completion of the consecutive replacement of a total of 13 gas turbine units – 6 units in Group 1* and 7 units in Group 2 – carried out at the power station since February 2016. JERA had been replacing gas turbines and other equipment in order to improve efficiency for the past three and a half years.

 

By accomplishing the replacement work, annual fuel consumption is expected to decline by approximately 240,000 tons and CO2 emissions by approximately 660,000 tons.

 

JERA will continue to contribute to the stable supply of efficient and globally competitive energy.

 * Group 1 Futtsu Thermal Power Station is comprised of 7 units. The scope of the replacement work is Unit 1 to 6.
