Investment in Advanced Ionics, a US-based Company with Innovative Water-Vapor Electrolyzer Technology2025/01/09

JERA Co., Inc., through JERA Ventures, has invested approximately two million US dollars in Advanced Ionics.

Advanced Ionics, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is a company developing a new class of water-vapor electrolyzer technology that produces hydrogen from water using electricity and thermal energy. The technology is unique because it uses low-cost materials and harvests heat in the temperature range of 100–650°C, a temperature range no other electrolyzer covers. By utilizing this technology and tapping into various waste heat sources, the electricity and cost required to produce hydrogen can be significantly reduced, enabling highly efficient low-carbon production of hydrogen, which is expected to contribute to global decarbonization and solve energy-related issues.

JERA has set a goal of "JERA Zero Emissions 2050", aiming for zero CO2 emissions from domestic and overseas operations by 2050, and is working to build and expand a low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia supply chain in cooperation with leading companies in Japan and overseas.

Through JERA Ventures, JERA will support startup growth and co-creation by offering the value of our strengths as one of the world's largest energy companies.
