JERA Has Successfully Bid at a Public Auction for Additional FY2022 Winter Power Capacity2022/09/01
JERA Co., Inc. (“JERA”) was selected as successful among power generation company bidders at a public auction, conducted by general electricity transmission and distribution companies, to supply additional power for winter FY2022
This public auction was held to secure additional power supply capacity (kW) as a measure to address winter supply and demand, based on discussions at the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry's Electricity and Gas Basic Policy Subcommittee. The public auction offered additional power supply capacity of 1.03 GW (up to 1.7 GW) in the East Japan area, and 0.99 GW (up to 1.9 GW) in the West Japan area, for the period from 4 January to 28 February 2023.
JERA was selected as a successful bidder in the power supply capacity (kW) auction for Anegasaki Thermal Power Station Unit 5, Chita Thermal Power Station Unit 5, Chita Daini Thermal Power Station Unit 1, and Yokkaichi Thermal Power Station Group 4 Units 4 and 5—all of which are under long-term planned shutdown. Going forward, preparations will be made to resume operation of these units.
JERA continues to make every effort to secure a stable supply of energy with the understanding and cooperation of local communities and other stakeholders.
