Public Review of the Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Document for the Offshore Wind Power Project Off Yuza in Yamagata Prefecture2021/12/27
JERA Co., Inc. (“JERA”), through the Consortium for Joint Implementation of an Environmental Assessment for the Offshore Wind Power Project Off Yuza in Yamagata Prefecture (the "Consortium"), has today began public review of the Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Document for the Offshore Wind Power Project off Yuza in Yamagata Prefecture (the “Document”) in accordance with the Environmental Impact Assessment Law.
Because the implementation of numerous Environmental Impact Assessment procedures off Yuza Town may place a heavy burden on local governments, residents, and other related parties, Yamagata Prefecture asked companies planning projects in the area to consolidate their Environmental Impact Assessment documents as much as possible.
JERA, therefore, together with the other companies, formed a consortium for the joint implementation of Document procedures under the Environmental Impact Assessment Law.
The Document describes an overview of the projects needed to conduct the Environmental Impact Assessment, the conditions in areas where the projects will be carried out, the items to be assessed, and the assessment’s research, forecast, and evaluation methods. Consortium members prepared the common Document after succeeding to the Primary Environmental Impact Consideration Document produced by Kato Sogyo Co., Ltd. and Cosmo Eco Power Co., Ltd.
Each Consortium member has its own project plans, but the Document describes Environmental Impact Assessment methods that account for each member’s plans and are based on the maximum anticipated environmental impact.
JERA will continue to move the project forward under the guidance of related authorities, giving due consideration to the opinions of other stakeholders.
