JERA Has Successfully Bid at a Public Auction for Additional FY2021 Winter Power Capacity2021/10/26

JERA Co., Inc. (“JERA”) has received notice that Anegasaki Thermal Power Station Unit 5—‚currently under a long-term planned shutdown—was selected as a successful bidder at the TEPCO Power Grid Incorporated (“TEPCO Power Grid”) “Public Auction for Additional FY2021 Winter Power Capacity.”

According to the electricity supply and demand outlook presented on 25 May 2021 at the 35th meeting of the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry’s Electricity and Gas Basic Policy Subcommittee, the electricity supply-demand situation in TEPCO Power Grid’s service area is expected to be tight. For this reason, TEPCO Power Grid held a public auction for an additional 550 MW power capacity between 4 January and 28 February 2022.

JERA will move forward to restore Anegasaki Thermal Power Station Unit 5 from its long-term planned shutdown and will make every effort, in cooperation with related parties, to ensure a stable supply of energy.
