Gorgon LNG Project
The Gorgon LNG Project refers to the large-scale gas fields, including Gorgon and Jansz, located off the northwestern coast of Western Australia, which produce 15.6 million tons of LNG annually. In 2009, Chubu Electric Power Company ("Chubu") acquired a 0.417% stake in the project’s mining and gas liquefaction, storage, and shipment operations.
In addition a contract for the purchase of 1.44 million tons of LNG per year for a 25-year period from 2014 was also agreed upon.
JERA succeeded to this project from Chubu in July 2016.
