Valladolid Gas Thermal IPP Project MEXICO

In 2003, Chubu Electric Power Company (“Chubu”) acquired equity stake in a company to construct, operate, and maintain a natural gas combined-cycle (composite thermal) power plant with a 525MW output located in Valladolid, Yucatan in Mexico in a joint investment with Mitsui & Co., and Calpine Corporation.
In April 2006, Chubu and Mitsui & Co. acquired Calpine’s stake in the project.In this project, natural gas used to generate electricity is provided by Mexico’s energy authority based on a 25-year long-term power purchase agreement with the energy authority.
JERA succeeded to this project from Chubu in July 2016.
