Sur Gas Thermal IPP Project OMAN

In 2011, Chubu Electric Power Company (“Chubu”) and Marubeni acquired stakes in the Sultanate of Oman’s largest-scale power generation project, the Sur IPP Project, in conjunction with Qatar Electricity & Water Company (QEWC) and Multitech LLC, and concluded a power purchase agreement to sell electricity.
This project is located along the Gulf of Oman in the Sur Industrial Area, approximately 150km southeast of Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman where a natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant with a capacity of 2,000MW was built. The operation and electricity sales is based on a 15-year power purchase agreement with the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP).
JERA succeeded to this project from Chubu in July 2016.
